Who We Are
Wiremill Academy was founded in May of 2011 by Mary Jo Duffy, Sarah Pfisterer and Rick Hilsabeck, three friends, all professional actors with a desire to combine their collective skills and knowledge to provide an educational program for young people and adults alike. We wanted to provide a space where students can focus on how to audition, how to rehearse, and how to practice the skills they are learning, and will need to succeed in all their theatrical endeavors, whether those be in their schools, community theater productions, college auditions, or professional contracts.
Mary Jo Duffy and her staff are all experienced professionals with extensive backgrounds in performance and teaching, with years of Broadway, touring, and regional singing, acting and dance experience.
Why Wiremill Academy?
Wiremill Academy for Performing Arts is an education based program. Our number one goal is to help children realize how valuable and unique they are, and to inspire them to explore their creativity with confidence. Being part of any theater program and community is about so much more than improving acting, singing, or dancing skills. Taking a theater class, studying private voice, dance, or becoming part of a production can ease stress, boost confidence and give children a sense of belonging. At Wiremill Academy, we strive to provide the space for children to do just that - to express themselves, take risks, and make lifelong friends along their path to becoming all around stellar human beings!
“Teaching young people the joy of discovery, the confidence that comes from practice, and the power of creative expression.”
